What we should do?
1. It is very essential to keep the baby neat and clean.
2. With proper care, cut the nails of the baby.
3. The wet nappy must be changed and the wet parts must be cleaned
4. Genital must be properly taken care and must be kept dry because they are more likely to get infected by the fungal.
5. Scalp care is also crucial so to avoid the fungal infections, dermatitis etc. It can be done by the proper cleaning.
6. Dresses of the babies must be loose enough and let the air gets in. tight dresses will result in irritation.
7. Baby’s room must have proper ventilation and light. It must also be free from dust and insects.
8. Baby’s bed must be kept by the side of mother’s bed and must be water proof.
9. Babies love music making toys, so keep them near the babies.
10. As the baby’s muscles are too weak, proper placement of hands beneath the baby’s head is important. Any sudden fall of the head can result in serious injuries.
11. Mother’s milk is necessary for the babies and it is the best medium of nutritions. It is also necessary for the better growth and development of the baby and also binds an emotional attachment between both of them. Milk should be given to the babies while the mother is sitting. Mothers must take good nutritious diet so that the milk contains the nutrition as well as before feeding the baby must clean the nipples.
12. If the mother’s milk is not available, baby can be given the cow’s milk. But keep in mind to keep the bottle clean.
13. Cow’s milk can contain the diseases like bovine, tuberculosis, brucellosis etc. so it must be boiled and cooled down before given to the baby.
14. Some babies may have allergies from the materials like food, milk, cosmetics etc. The thing that is the reason for allergy must be kept away from the babies.
15. Mosquitoes can be the reason for diseases like malaria, dengue, filariasis, yellow fever etc. So baby’s bed must be kept in the net that do not let the mosquitoes enter in it.
16. Infants sleep requirement is more than that of adults and they also want calm atmosphere to have the sound sleep. Many hormonal secretions take place when the baby is sleeping that are essential for the growth.
17. Growth development, behavioral development, motor development, personal social development, language development etc must be noted by the parents but yet they do not need to get worried because it can vary among individuals.
18. The height and weight assessment is also necessary.
19. Babies must be defecate after every meal in the early age. They must be trained by the age of 10 months for the proper toilets by getting on to the toilet seats.
20. Antiseptic liquid must be used over the toilet seats and make it clean.
21. if the baby is showing the sings of excessive crying, convulsions, fever with rigor, stiffness of neck, frequent vomiting and diarrhea, bluish discoloration of the body, difficult breathing with grunting, etc. then they must be taken for the doctor’s consultation.
22. The separate first aid box must be placed in the baby’s room that must contain sterile cotton, dressing materials, antiseptic lotion and ointment and forceps. A book is also maintained that must have records about the emergency contacts like doctors, police or ambulances.
23. Another book must be maintained that contain all the information about the baby’s medication. It must also tell that which medicine must be given at which time and in which quantity.
24. Keep the baby under the seat belt while driving.
25. Also keep the identity card with the details like phone number and address in baby’s pocket.
26. As the baby start learning walking, remain close to him or her to save him or her from the injuries.
27. In case of emergency take the baby to the hospital and also takes the first aid measures.
a. Chocking: In case when baby have swallowed some solid thing make him or her lie on the abdomen in head low position. Press the abdomen backwards and towards the chest to take the thing out. Stroking the upper back can also be fruitful.
b. Accidental poisoning: In case when baby have eaten something poisonous try to make them vomit but not in case of kerosene and acids. To make the absorption from skin lesser, wash the skin of the baby from cold water.
c. Burns: Put the cold water over the affected place. Remove all the burn clothes and cover the affected area by the sterile cotton. Take patient to the hospital.
d. Wounds: Try to stop the flow of the blood by raising the wound above from the level of the heart or use the tourniquet to compress blood vessels. Clean the wound and then dress it with the sterile cotton and bandage.
e. Drowning in bath tub: Immediately take the baby out from the tub and make him or her lie on the floor by keeping the head in low position, press the abdomen smoothly and you can also give mouth to mouth sucking until the air way is cleared.
28. Last but not least of course, is to give love, care and support to the baby to let them feel happy and healthy.
What we should not do?
1. Do not shake the bay as it can damage the brain.
2. Do not place any articles like pen, pencil etc near the baby.
3. Take care that water does not get entered in the ears of the baby’s during bath.
4. Do not give the food forcibly when the baby is crying or coughing continuously.
5. Do not over feed the baby.
6. Things like mosquito repellents, moth balls, ink, gum, medicines etc must be kept away from the babies.
7. Do not put the babies in the tight clothes.
8. Do not place the baby at the edge of the bed.
9. Keep the baby away from the strangers and other close contacts.
10. Bed should be placed away from the electric wires or sockets as well as keep all the electric devices away from the baby.
11. Do not take the baby in the kitchen.
12. Do not smoke inside the house.
13. Do not let the pets near your baby.
14. Do not allow the baby to climb the steps and should not be kept at the upstairs when they start learning walking.
15. Do not use the strong lights inside the room.
16. Do not let the baby to crawl in the soil.
17. Sick person must not be allowed to come close to the baby.
18. Do not take the babies to the hospital wards, crowded market places and polluted dusty areas.
19. Do not give the close expiry medicines to the baby and consult doctors before give any other medicine.
20. Do not place table lamps near the babies. This will attract the insects and cause trouble for the baby.

I was told you are not allowed to give babies of 1 year old or less cows milk because they cen become allergic.
